Stephan Wanger, artist and creator of Bead Town, is coming to Livingston Parish. Old City Hall in Denham Springs will house an exhibit of his work from April 27 - June 16 with a Grand Opening on Saturday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. The artist uses Mardi Gras beads to create large mosaics, usually 4' x 8', which are based on downtown vistas from across the cities he visits. The Arts Council of Livingston Parish is partnering with the Merchants' Association of downtown Denham Springs in acquiring this exhibit to be placed in the Old City Hall, Denham Springs. The public may help with this project by donating leftover Mardi Gras beads to used in creating a mosaic representative of Livingston Parish. FREE workshops will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from May 8 - June 13. This project will be and will remain on permanent exhibit in Denham Springs Old City Hall after the event. All Livingston Parish students, all ages, are invited to attend the workshops and help the artist glue the Mardi Gras beads on the mosaic. Anyone else may also attend the workshops to assist in the many other needs that arise in the process of putting such a work together. Remember.....NO CHARGE FOR THE WORKSHOPS.
